China-Brazil Firms Explore Digital-Physical Integration
On May 29, the DO-Port Digital Global Expansion Series Event — China-Brazil International Cooperation Exchange on Digital-Physical Integration Scenarios — was successfully held. Guided by the Minhang District Data Bureau, hosted by the Shanghai Smart City Development Research Institute, and undertaken by Shanghai Maqiao AI Innovation Pilot Zone Construction & Development Co., Ltd., the event brought together more than 30 senior representatives from government, industry, academia, research and investment institutions in major industrial cities of southern Brazil. They met with Shanghai digital enterprises specializing in intelligent manufacturing, smart logistics and smart agriculture to explore cross-border cooperation opportunities for digital-physical integration.
Shanghai is actively advancing global connectivity. By strengthening international data cooperation and supporting the global expansion of digital enterprises, the city is accelerating the implementation of international cooperation scenarios, with digital-physical integration as a priority. As the core area of Shanghai’s southern science and innovation hub and a highland for digital economy development, Minhang has built up technological expertise in intelligent equipment, green and low-carbon technologies, brain-computer interfaces and other sectors, laying solid groundwork for exporting solutions and conducting international collaboration.

Leveraging Minhang’s robust industrial foundation, the Maqiao AI Pilot Zone has emerged as a prime testbed for digital-physical integration. Wu Liang, General Manager of Shanghai Maqiao AI Innovation Pilot Zone Construction & Development Co., Ltd., introduced the zone’s industrial incubation and scenario development progress. As a key industrial carrier within Minhang, the pilot zone has attracted leading AI firms and keeps advancing cutting-edge fields including smart production and future energy. It offers a high-quality platform for technological iteration and scenario deployment, and looks forward to exploring more cooperation opportunities with Brazilian enterprises.

Sheng Xuefeng, President of the Shanghai Smart City Development Research Institute, shared Shanghai’s overall strategy for digital development. Driven by the dual engines of “AI + data”, the city continues to deepen the integration of digital and real economies. Its mature industrial ecosystem and rich practical experience have laid a solid foundation for industrial cooperation between China and foreign countries.
During the meeting, the Shanghai Smart City Development Research Institute signed Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with Instituto Caldeira and Invest RS. The three parties agreed to facilitate China-Brazil cooperation on digital-physical integration and industrial innovation, and build a long-term cooperation mechanism covering cross-border enterprise exchanges, innovative project incubation and digital economy research.
